We partner with clients at all levels, up through the C-Suite, in industries including but not limited to finance, retail, legal, healthcare, technology and media.

There are all kinds of things to consider when you’re thinking about making a professional change, and our clients come to us facing really interesting challenges. For example:

  • I think I want to change industries or functions, but I’m not sure what else can I do with my background and skills.

  • My manager and I don’t see eye-to-eye, but I have other great relationships here and want to stay at the company if possible, so I need guidance about how to navigate the internal politics.

  • I’m hitting a low ceiling at my company, and don’t feel I’m getting appropriately recognized for my contribution/leadership, so I want to be strategic about getting to the next level at another company.

  • I’m getting interviews, but not offers, and I’m not sure where things are going off the rails.

  • My current role isn’t satisfying, but I don’t know what might be out there that I would enjoy more but would still pay the bills.

  • I have been out of work for X years, but now I’m getting divorced and need to fill the income gap.

  • I am at a critical inflection point in my career, and as I prepare for my next promotion, I want to position myself as a leader in this field. I would like some support as I develop the initiatives and launch strategies that will get me to the next level.

  • I have developed a great career, but don’t think I can maintain this level of intensity in my work. I’d like to explore what else I might do. I don’t want the long commute and 80-hour weeks anymore, and would like more flexibility for family demands without abandoning my professional ambitions.

…just to name a few! Every client’s situation is different, and as far as we’re concerned, there are no straight-line circumstances or cookie-cutter solutions. That’s why we work the way we do, and what makes our work so satisfying - and a lot of fun!

FAQ

a.k.a. Things we aren’t, but also sort of are

“‘Career strategy consultant’… so you place people in jobs?”

No, and by design. We work for you, not companies. When you work with us, you have our full transparency, advocacy, and strict confidentiality. But, we get that most people are working with us because they want to advance to a new/better role, so we have relationships with companies and agencies that do place people, and to the extent those relationships can benefit our clients, we always make those connections (and we don’t get paid for that).

“You’re like my therapist! Do you do Life Coaching?”

We actually get this a lot, and it’s flattering! But no, we’re not life coaches. We often get to know our clients on a personal level, and we love that part of our work, because it’s satisfying helping them meet needs across their personal/professional spectrum. But we’re really more hardcore strategy people with a career orientation, so we leave the life coaching designation in the able hands of the life coaches.

“You offer a lot of services, but I really just need a new resume. Is that possible?”

The quick answer is yes: we of course develop resumes (really good ones!), and we don’t have required “programs” that you have to complete all stages of, or anything like that. That said, we caveat that we are not the cheapest service for basic resume writing, because we’re not a resume factory cranking out quick work (that’s not a slight on other resume writing services!). We like to think of ourselves as resume artists; we craft highly customized and strategic resumes that are intended to be used as one tool in your overall positioning strategy, so it’s an elevated product (if we do say so ourselves), which might not be right for everyone.

Side note: sometimes, clients come to us thinking they “just” need a resume, but wind up doing much more transformative work with us that meaningfully changes the direction of their career, so… we defer to you, and this really isn’t a sales strategy, but suggest that you consider whether you might be able to use more strategic support beyond the 2-D resume.
